On November 22, the 8th “Belt and Road” initiative (BRI) Sino-Germany Economic Cooperation Dialogue was held in video mode. Shen Beili, Deputy Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wu Ken, Chinese Ambassador to Germany, and Liu Tao, Mayor of Xuchang City, etc. give a speech separately by wire or video.

The BRI Sino-Germany Economic Cooperation Dialogue is co-sponsored by the China Economic Liaison Center of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the German Rudolf Scharping Strategic Consulting Company. It aims to promote China and Germany to participate in the BRI construction and deepen practical cooperation, achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

Liu Tao delivered a passionate speech at the dialogue meeting. He said that Xuchang has a long history and culture, superior transportation location, excellent ecological environment, developed private economy, and full of vitality for development. In particular, it has a strong industrial foundation and distinctive industrial features. Its industrial competitiveness ranks third in Henan Province. It is an important production base for hair products in the world, an important production base for synthetic diamonds in Asia, an important production base for power equipment and auto parts and renewable resources recycling base in China.

Liu Tao said that the “Belt and Road” initiative is an initiative to promote international cooperation and an important way to promote cooperation and development among countries and lead economic growth. In recent years, Xuchang City has seized the opportunity of the “Belt and Road” construction, vigorously implemented the opening-up driving strategy, matched “German Quality” with the “Xuchang Speed”, and successfully joined the “Sino-German Industrial City Alliance”. At present, Xuchang has signed 139 cooperation agreements with German enterprises, of which 69 projects have been implemented. The electric furnace steelmaking dedusting and ash project of Germany's Befesa Group is about to be completed and put into production. The ALBA restaurant-kitchen waste treatment project has been successfully completed. Cooperation with Germany has achieved a fruitful result.

Liu Tao said that cooperation makes dream come true and win-win creates the future. Xuchang City will put the implementation of a higher level of opening up to the world in a prominent position, focus on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry, and promote cooperation with Germany in more fields, deeper levels, and higher quality. At the same time, Xuchang will continue to optimize the business environment to provide a strong guarantee for the construction of cooperation projects with Germany and the development of German companies in Xuchang. More German friends and German companies are also welcomed to visit Xuchang to further enhance understanding and jointly write a new win-win cooperation chapter.
